Custom flags: a practical guide to getting the print right
A personalised flag has to work with its surroundings and its support. A design for a flagpole outside a business has different requirements from a graphic hung against a wall. Begin with where the flag will go, how people will see it and how it will attach. Those decisions are more useful than choosing a size from a photograph alone.
Choose the dimensions and orientation first
Our digitally printed flags have listed sizes from 910 × 450mm to 3650 × 1830mm. These are print dimensions, not pole heights. Measure the available display area and check the width-to-height proportions before laying out your logo. A design that fits a long horizontal flag will need adapting for a tall vertical flag; stretching the same file distorts lettering and brand marks.
Single-sided or double-sided flag printing?
Single-sided printing is viewed in reverse from the back, which may be acceptable for a bold symbol or simple branding. Select the double-sided option when wording needs to read correctly from both directions. Tell us the intended viewing sides and whether the faces should carry the same artwork. This is especially useful where visitors approach from opposite directions.
Match the finishing to your flagpole or fixing
- Hem only: choose this when the installation requires a finished edge without the other listed attachments.
- Eyelets: confirm the required fixing edge and how the eyelets will connect to the support.
- Rope and toggle: check compatibility with the flagpole system before ordering.
Send a photograph of existing hardware if you are unsure. A familiar overall size does not establish compatibility: attachment position, orientation and the way the flag flies all matter. A printed flag does not automatically include a pole or base.
Artwork that stays readable at a distance
Use a clear logo, strong contrast and a short message. Fine text that looks sharp on a laptop may disappear when the flag is moving several metres away. Keep essential artwork away from the finishing edge and use the current template. Supply vector artwork when available, or send the best logo and image files you have for review. Ordering for a launch, event or repeat campaign
The product lists standard, Express and Super Express production choices. Confirm availability for your order and allow for artwork approval as well as courier transit. For repeat orders, provide the original order reference and identify any changed dates, logos or contact details. Check the final proof even when most of the design is unchanged.
