Choosing feather flags: size, print and base explained
A feather flag combines a shaped printed graphic with a supporting pole and a suitable base. Its tall format can help identify a shop entrance, event pitch or promotional area. The right kit depends on the display space and surface, as well as the viewing distance. Choose those practical details before approving the artwork.
Which feather flag size should I choose?
The main range includes 2.8m small, 3.4m medium, 4.5m large and 5.6m XL options. These size labels describe the display range; use the matching artwork template for the printed graphic. Do not set up a print file using the overall pole height.
Measure overhead clearance and the space around the display. A smaller flag may suit an entrance where people pass close by, while a taller option needs an appropriate open position. Make sure the flag and base stay clear of doors, access routes and vehicles. A taller flag is not automatically a better choice for a restricted space.
Single-sided versus double-sided printing
Single-sided flags show the design in reverse on the back. Double-sided printing is useful when a message needs to read correctly from opposite directions, where that option is offered. The small, medium and large products list double-sided choices. The XL range currently lists a single-sided template and should not be assumed to have the same options as the smaller sizes.
Match the base to the surface and flag
A ground spike is for suitable soft ground. Water bases and a cross base with water bag are alternatives to assess for appropriate hard-standing positions. A drive-on base is a specialist option for a compatible vehicle display. Check the options offered for the exact flag size; a base that fits one kit may not be suitable for another.
Ask us to check compatibility if you are reusing a base or pole. Follow the setup and weather guidance supplied with the product and bring outdoor flags in during unsuitable conditions. The available base choices should not be interpreted as permission to use any flag in any location.
Keep the artwork simple enough to read
A flag moves, and people often see it while walking or driving past. Use a clear logo, strong contrast and a short message. Keep small contact details to a minimum and place important elements inside the safe area on the current template. A feather-shaped design should be composed for that shape rather than cropped from a rectangular poster.
Free artwork help is available. Send your logo, wording, colours and supporting images, and identify the selected size and printed sides. Check the proof for spelling, orientation and important details before approving it.
Complete kits and replacement flags
Review the selected product and base option to confirm what is included. If your hardware is serviceable and you only need a new graphic, compare replacement flags. Provide your original order reference so the new graphic can be checked against the pole.
Ordering for an event date
The main flag products list standard, Express and Super Express production choices. Confirm capacity, artwork cut-offs and courier time for a fixed arrival date. Production and delivery are separate stages. For a different shape, compare teardrop flags or crest flags, or ask us to help specify your kit.
