Roller banners explained: choose the right display for your next event
Roller banners, pull up banners and roll up banners describe the retractable display format: the graphic pulls out of a cassette and is supported when assembled. They are useful when you need a visible message without a large backdrop. The best choice depends on how often the banner travels, the space available and whether visitors will see one face or two.
Compare the systems in this collection
| System | When to consider it | Listed widths |
|---|---|---|
| Budget | Occasional promotions and cost-conscious displays | 800, 850 and 1000mm |
| Everyday | General event and business displays | 800–1500mm, selected widths |
| Premium | Compare the hardware for frequent use | 800–1500mm, selected widths |
| Double-sided | Messages viewed from opposite directions | 800, 850 and 1000mm |
| Outdoor | Suitable outdoor promotional settings | 850mm |
Work backwards from your floor space
The printed width is only part of the footprint. Leave room for the cassette, feet and passing visitors. A compact banner suits a narrow reception or small exhibition pitch; wider displays provide more visual space but still need concise copy.
Check the height and template for the selected product before designing. Different systems can have different allowances where the graphic attaches or enters the cassette. Artwork made for one mechanism should not be reused for another without checking it.
Single-sided and double-sided displays
A single-sided banner usually faces the main approach. Where people arrive from both ends of a corridor or an open stand, a dedicated double-sided system may be a better fit. Choose the double-sided product itself: placing artwork on two sides is not an automatic option on every cassette. Plan each face around its own viewing direction.
Build the design around one useful message
Put the logo and main benefit near the top. Follow with one supporting image or offer and a clear action. Test QR codes at the intended size and keep important content clear of the cassette allowance.
Send your logo, wording, photographs and examples through our free artwork request. Check spelling, image quality, contact details and the chosen product size on the proof before approval.
Production, transport and repeated use
Current roller banner options include standard 3-day, Express next-day and Super Express same-day production. These are production choices; artwork approval, capacity and courier delivery still need confirming for a fixed arrival date.
Can an indoor pull up banner go outside?
Use a system specified for outdoor display and follow its securing and weather guidance. An indoor cassette is not a substitute. For a different outdoor format, compare pop out banners or portable flags.
